All prices are in US dollars, and every plan and add-on is billed in USD. There is no local-currency billing, including in Pakistani rupees (PKR).
Payroll is separate from billing. Each workspace chooses the currency its payroll and payslips use, from more than 50 currencies including PKR, and an admin can change it in settings. For Pakistan, our salary tax calculator shows the current FBR slabs.
- What counts as a seat?
- Every employee in your workspace who is not marked inactive, including people you have invited who have not signed in yet. Offboarded employees do not count. Paid plans have no minimum beyond one seat and no maximum.
- What happens if I add employees in the middle of a billing period?
- When you have more active employees than seats, your seat count goes up automatically. The extra seats are billed at the end of the period, on your next invoice, prorated for the part of the period they were used. The amount shown in Billing beforehand is an estimate.
- Can I reduce my seats?
- Seats never go down on their own. An admin can lower the seat count in Billing, but not below the number of active employees, and the lower count applies from your next renewal. There is no refund or credit for the current period.
- How does annual billing work?
- Paying yearly costs 20% less than paying monthly, for plans and add-ons alike. You choose monthly or annual when you subscribe. To change the billing cycle of an existing subscription, contact support.
- Can I change plans later?
- Yes. Moving between Starter, Growth and Scale takes effect immediately, and the price difference is prorated onto your next invoice. Moving a paid workspace back to the Free plan is not self-serve; contact support.
- What happens on the Free plan when we reach 10 employees?
- The Free plan covers up to 10 employees, including invited ones, with no credit card. Adding an eleventh employee asks you to upgrade to a paid plan first.
- What happens if I cancel?
- You keep full access until the end of the period you have paid for. After that the workspace is paused. A paused workspace is deleted after 60 days, and an encrypted backup is kept for 90 more days. Refunds are not self-serve; contact support if you think you were charged in error.
- What if a payment fails?
- You get an email straight away and reminders after 2 and 5 days, and the workspace keeps full access for 8 days. If the payment still has not gone through, the workspace is paused until it does.
- How are the add-ons billed?
- The Desktop App ($3 per employee per month) and Tickin Meet ($20 per workspace per month) are each billed as their own subscription, separately from your plan, and are available once you have a paid plan. Removing an add-on ends it at the end of its billing period.
- Who handles payment and tax?
- Payments are processed by Polar, which acts as the merchant of record and handles sales tax and VAT. Your invoices are available to download in Billing.
- Is there a free trial of the paid plans?
- There is no trial. The Free plan is free for up to 10 employees with no time limit, so you can try Tickin properly before you pay.
- Is Tickin a payroll service?
- No. On the Growth plan and above, Tickin calculates pay and produces payslips from your team's hours, leave and overtime, using tax presets you review and confirm. It does not pay employees or file taxes; that stays with you, your bank or your accountant.
