Leave

Leave management that runs itself

Employees request time off where they already work, approvers decide with one tap, and balances stay accurate without a spreadsheet in sight.

Request leave from anywhere

Your team can request leave from the web portal or Slack, with Microsoft Teams available on the Scale plan. There is no separate app to open and no form to hunt for. Employees pick a leave type, choose their dates, and submit in seconds from the tools they use every day, so requests actually get logged instead of lingering in someone's inbox.

Approvals in Slack and Teams

Approvers see each request with clear approve and decline buttons right inside Slack or the web portal, and inside Microsoft Teams on the Scale plan. On Free and Starter an admin approves each request; on Growth and Scale, a request goes to the employee's team lead first and then to an admin for final approval. Every decision is logged, and the requester is notified of the outcome automatically. No chasing, no forwarded emails, and a clean record of who approved what and when.

Leave types and balances that stay accurate

Tickin supports Annual, Sick, Casual, Work From Home, Paternity, and Maternity leave, plus Public Holiday and Unpaid Leave. Balances are tracked as leave is taken, and approved leave interacts with attendance and monthly required hours so time off is reflected correctly without manual adjustments. Leave can also be taken as a half day, morning or afternoon, for every type except Unpaid Leave and Work From Home: it uses half a day of the balance and halves that day's target hours. Half days are on by default, and an admin can turn them off.

A daily leave and WFH report

Every working day, Tickin posts an automated Daily Leave and WFH report to Slack showing who is out and why, in your workspace timezone. Managers start the day knowing exactly who is available, without pinging around to find out who is on leave or working from home.

Frequently asked questions

How do employees request leave?
Employees can request leave from the web portal or Slack on any plan, and from Microsoft Teams on the Scale plan. They select a leave type and dates and submit, and the request goes straight to their approver.
What leave types does Tickin support?
Tickin supports Annual, Sick, Casual, Work From Home, Paternity, and Maternity leave, along with Public Holiday and Unpaid Leave.
Can employees take half-day leave?
Yes, on every plan. When requesting leave, people choose Full day, Half day (morning) or Half day (afternoon), on the web, in Slack, or in Microsoft Teams on the Scale plan. Half days work for every leave type except Unpaid Leave and Work From Home, use 0.5 days of the balance and go through the same approval as any other leave. On an approved half day, that day's target hours are halved for overtime and clock-out reminders. Half-day leave is on by default, and an admin can switch it off in leave settings.
Can managers approve leave from Slack or Teams?
Yes. Approvers can approve or decline requests with buttons directly in Slack or the web portal, and in Microsoft Teams on the Scale plan. On Growth and Scale the team lead approves first and an admin gives the final approval; on Free and Starter the admin approves directly. Every decision is logged and the requester is notified of the outcome.
Does leave affect attendance and required hours?
Yes. Leave balances are tracked, and approved leave interacts with attendance and monthly required hours so time off is reflected accurately.
How does the team know who is out on a given day?
Tickin posts an automated Daily Leave and WFH report to Slack once a day on working days, in your workspace timezone, showing who is out and why.
