Team scheduling that keeps everyone on the same page
Start with one clear weekly schedule for your team: office hours, working days, and a workspace timezone that drive attendance automatically. On the Growth plan, give an employee or a whole department its own shift, overnight shifts included, so everyone is measured against the hours they actually work.
Set the schedule your whole team works to
Tickin starts with a weekly work schedule that everyone in your workspace follows, so there's never confusion about when the team is expected to be on. You define it once and it becomes the shared default across your workspace. Instead of scattered messages and mismatched assumptions, your team has a single source of truth for when work happens. Until you turn on shift scheduling, everyone follows it.
Working days and office hours, exactly how your team runs
Configure which days of the week your team works and set the office hours with a clear start and end time. Whether your team runs a standard Monday to Friday week or a different set of working days, you shape the schedule to match how your business actually operates. Office hours live at the workspace level, so you never have to repeat the setup for each person.
Per-employee and per-department shifts on Growth
When one schedule doesn't fit everyone, the Growth plan adds shift scheduling. Create named shift types with their own start and end time and working days, then assign a shift to one employee or to a whole department. A personal shift takes priority over a department shift. Once shift scheduling is on, every employee needs one or the other: anyone with neither cannot clock in until an admin assigns a shift, and Tickin tells them exactly that, on the web, in Slack and in Microsoft Teams. Overnight shifts such as 22:00 to 06:00 are supported, and each employee has one active shift at a time.
Shifts drive attendance and overtime
A shift isn't just a label. An employee's shift sets the daily hours their overtime is measured against, which days count as working days for them, and the window their lateness is judged by, so a 14:00 start is not flagged late against a 09:00 office day. You can also set a counted break allowance on a shift, for teams that pay for part of the break. One current limit: late-arrival and early-leave alerts do not yet apply to overnight shifts, though their hours and overtime are counted normally.
One timezone-correct standard for distributed teams
Set a workspace timezone once and every schedule and shift is interpreted the same way for everyone, no matter where they log in from. The timezone is DST-safe, so daylight saving changes are handled correctly without you having to adjust anything. For distributed teams, this means one consistent standard instead of people guessing across time zones.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I set up a work schedule in Tickin?
- Choose which days your team works, set office hours with a start and end time, and select your workspace timezone. Once saved, it becomes the schedule for everyone in the workspace. On the Growth plan you can then turn on shift scheduling and assign shifts to individual employees or departments; from then on, each employee needs a shift, their own or their department's, before they can clock in.
- Can I set individual shifts per employee?
- Yes, on the Growth plan. You create shift types with their own hours and working days and assign them to a specific employee or to a whole department. An employee's own shift takes priority over their department's, and each employee has one active shift at a time.
- Does Tickin support night shifts?
- Yes. Overnight shifts such as 22:00 to 06:00 are supported, and their hours and overtime are counted normally. Late-arrival and early-leave alerts do not yet apply to overnight shifts.
- Does Tickin support rotating shifts?
- Not automatically. There is no rota that rotates people between shifts on a cycle. You can change the shift assigned to an employee or department at any time, and the new shift applies from then on. For a one-off difference, such as a swapped day, you can change a single day instead.
- Can I change one day without changing someone's shift?
- Yes, on the Growth plan. From Work Schedule, open Day changes, pick the people and days, and give each one custom hours, make it a day off, or add an extra working day. Team leads can do the same for their own team. Only that day changes; the shift stays as it is. Tickin works out the hours the day requires, and the person is notified with a link that opens their calendar on that day.
- Does the schedule affect attendance tracking?
- Yes. Lateness is evaluated against the schedule that applies to each person: the workspace office hours and working days, or, once shift scheduling is on, their own or their department's shift. On the Growth plan, a shift also sets the daily hours that overtime is measured against.
- How does Tickin handle teams in different time zones?
- You set a single workspace timezone and every schedule and shift is interpreted consistently against it. The timezone is DST-safe, so daylight saving changes are handled automatically.
