How this template works
Fill in one row per working day with the date, the time work started, the time it ended, and any unpaid break in minutes. The total hours column shows the paid time left after subtracting the break.

Frequently asked questions
- Do breaks count as hours worked?
- Usually no. Unpaid breaks such as lunch are subtracted from the day, which is why this template has a break column. See our guide to break tracking for how to handle paid versus unpaid breaks.
- Can I use this template in Excel or Google Sheets?
- Yes. The file is a standard CSV, so it opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, or any spreadsheet app, and you can add formulas or extra columns as needed.
- How do I calculate total hours for the week?
- Work out each day as clock out minus clock in minus the break in minutes, convert to hours, then sum every day to get the weekly total shown in the Total row.
